Rules for submitting papers to international scientific journal «Psychiatry, Neurology and Medical Psychology»

In the international scientific and practical journal “Psychiatry, Neurology and Medical Psychology” problematic articles, the results of original and experimental studies, articles of review, discussion and historical character, as well as short reports, lectures, reviews, case studies and materials of information character, works on teaching of neurosciences, organization and management of mental service and other materials related to topical issues of clinical and forensic psychiatry, narcology, neurology, medical psychology, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and others are published.

The Editorial Board accepts articles for consideration, which correspond to the subject of the magazine and the requirements below.

General provisions

The works which were not published and not submitted for publication before are accepted.

The volume of original articles should not exceed 12 pages, lectures and reviews – 20, short reports – 5, reviews – 3 pages.

The work can be written in Ukrainian, Russian or English.
The article is sent to the editorial office in two copies; one of them must be signed by all the authors (or one of them, who takes responsibility and puts his signature with the note “agreed with all collaborators”).
Supporting documents and information about the authors

The paper is accompanied by an official letter, endorsed by the supervisor’s signature and seal of the institution where the work was done, and for domestic authors – also the expert conclusion, allowing open publication, and the conclusion of the bioethics commission of the institution, where the work was done.

Dissertators’ papers should have a visa of the supervisor.

The papers made on the personal initiative of the author should be accompanied by a letter with a request for publication.

Together with the text of the article (in electronic form) the information about the author / authors is submitted:

Surname, name and patronymic (in full);
The place of work and position of the author (in full, no abbreviations);
Science degree;
Academic title;
Contact telephone number (mobile);
E-mail address;
The address for sending the journal.
Technical rules for text formatting

The file name is named after the first author’s surname (petrenko.doc).

The text is typed in text editor Microsoft Word:

Page format – A4, orientation – portrait;
Margins: left, top and bottom 2 cm, right – 1 cm;
Font Times New Roman, size 14, line spacing – 1,5;
Indentation – 1.25 cm (just use the enter key);
Text alignment – the width of the page;
Allocation of fragments of the text may be bold or italic.
Not allowed:

Duplication of the article title in the file name;
Creation of indentation using the Tab key and the space bar;
Compulsory (placed manually) transfers;
Underlining, discharge, use of capital letters to highlight parts of the text;
Using bulleted and numbered lists in Microsoft Word (except References);
Replacement of a dash (—) with hyphen (-) and vice versa.
Abstract and key words

The volume of abstracts (without key words) – 800-900 characters without spaces.

Abstract in each language (Ukrainian, Russian, English) should include:

article title;
initials and surname of the author / authors (set standard – I.A. Petrenko);
official name of the institution or organization (if the authors work in different organizations, it is necessary to bring all the names and addresses, and superscript Arabic numerals denoting the corresponding the institutions where authors work);
key words (5-7 words or phrases).
Text of the article

Article material is presented by the scheme:

UDC (article without UDC is not considered);
article title;
initials and surname of the author / authors (set standard – I.A. Petrenko);
full name of the institution where the work was done (without abbreviations);
three abstracts (in Ukrainian, Russian and English);
key words;
in the experimental articles and the results of the original research separate lines highlight sections:
purpose and objectives of the study;
materials and methods;
results of research and discussion;
references (list of references in the original language).
In brief reports and review articles specified sections do not stand out, there is only a list of references.

All abbreviations should be disclosed (except common abbreviations) at the first mention in the text.

In the text of the article links start with [1], and follow on the rise and in order.

References are given in square brackets:

by reference to two or more sources that are not consecutive, their numbers are separated with a semicolon (set standard [2; 4; 9]):
at the mention of three or more sources of consecutive order the interval is indicated with a dash (set standard [2-5]).
At every mention of the names of scientists a reference to his / her publication, which should be included into references is necessary.

All quotes should end with references to sources.

All statistical data should be backed up by references to sources.

All physical quantities and units should be given in the international system of SI, the terms – according to the international nomenclature.

Tables and figures (graphs, charts, diagrams, photos)

All tables should be created in Microsoft Word, be compact and have relevant content titles.

All tables and figures in the text should be referred to.

Illustrations and tables are numbered in Arabic numerals (if their number is more than one) and are placed in the text immediately after the paragraph, in which there is reference to them.

The text of the article should not duplicate the data shown in the table.

Figures should not duplicate the table.

If graphs, charts, diagrams are constructed not in Microsoft Word, then they are sent as separate files in the program, in which they were created (Microsoft Excel, Adobe Illustrator) with the appropriate extension.

Diagrams, charts, diagrams should be made in the Grayscale color mode (grayscale). The use of color illustrations is not permitted and is not accepted (except authors’ photographs).

Photos should be sent in separate files in .jpg format (or .tiff) with extension of 300 dpi.

Bibliography cited

References are made in accordance with DSTU GOST 7.1: 2006 and should contain the works no older than 10 years. Earlier publications are included in the list only when necessary.

The list does not include unpublished works.

The bibliographic description includes the surname and initials of the author / authors, title, publisher, place and year of publication, volume, issue, amount of pages.

In the original studies not less than 5 and not more than 15 sources are cited, and in scientific reviews – up to 30 sources.

References in the list are placed in order to the order of links in the text.

The numbering of the original sources is done only with the use of “numbered list” feature of Microsoft Word

For the correctness of the data given in the bibliography cited only authors are responsible.

The editors’ board reserves the right to review and edit articles as well as refuse the works that do not meet the requirements of editorial publications. Manuscripts are not returned.
